   Dr. Brandon Hooper, Flower Mound Dental, recommended that I use this oral appliance. He referred me to a sleep apnea clinic in California. I completed an at-home sleep test and the doctors indicated that I had a 30% upper airway resistance syndrome. I paid approximately $850 for the Silent Nite sleep appliance (w/ a military discount).

   Here is the verdict: It has worked well. The oral appliance helps me sleep better because it moves my lower jaw forward and allows for more air to flow when breathing. My snoring has been reduced, according to my wife. However, I don’t think that I was a heavy snorer. I have mild sleep apnea.

   Yes, it took some getting used to. I went into the dentist to make some slight adjustments on fit and the two plastic pieces that connect the upper and lower plastic molds together. My mouthpiece gets pretty gross even though I brush it with water and a toothbrush. I’ll have to replace it soon after about 18-24 months (best guess).

   All in all, I have been pleased with the purchase and performance of Silent Nite. I may consider Vivos in the future though.

   I was using Silent Night for sleep apnea for about 6 or 7 years until my dentist noticed my front teeth (upper and lower) got loose.
   He sent me for evaluation and the orthodontist confirmed that my bite got changed because of this mouthpiece. It required several visits to work on my bite. I’ve learned that it was a common side effect of Silent Nite.
   Using CPAP machine for sleep apnea since then.

   Fits so tight it’s kinda unbearable. I feel Ike it’s moved my right front tooth. It’s very medieval and needs some real serous technology improvement. I feel like it’s poorly done .

   I am 83 years old. I have sleep apnea and chewing anything like meat hurts and the muscles on my right side (jaw muscles) stays sore. i don’t know if this would help me nor if I can afford the device. I have Medicare and MHBP (Aetna) as a supplement.

   I have sleep apnea and my bite is not right. It hurts when I chew. I don’t know if this devise will work for me.

     I’ve worn this device for more than 10 years. It does work for snoring however, the straps are very uncomfortable. I have to cover them with hot glue material so they don’t cut into my cheek. The material used has become very discolored over time. And it arrived with the bumps from the impressions of my teeth still present. My dentist had to flatten out the contacts so I could close my mouth when the lower piece was moved forward. The straps are hard plastic and break often. They are not easy to replace because the material is not pliable enough. I would not recommend this appliance even though I’ve worn it for so long.

   My friend is currently wearing one and I’m pretty sure the whole 4th floor is worried for their lives. I can’t imagine the snoring being any louder.

   I love my Silent Nite. It did hurt a bit on my teeth for a few days as it is pretty tight, but it does adjust, kind of like shoes. After several months I still love it. I feel rested and can tell when I don’t wear it.

    I am a retired Dentist. For years I have successfully treated mild apnea patients without one complaint. I have used one for decades and if I forget to put it in one night, I get the elbow from my wife. A very worthwhile investment.

    I put in my silent night device for the first time and it hurts so bad on my upper teeth, I just had to pull it right out.

      Mine is extremely tight also. I was able to wear it for a couple hours. It seemed to cause me to have a dry mouth. For that reason I removed it after a couple hours.

    How much does the silent night appliance cost? My dentist quoted me a price and I want to verify. I have a medicare advantage insurance with Scripps/SCAN. The CPAP has not worked out for me, due to its negative on my eyes.

    I just received my appliance yesterday. I used it last night and I feel like I acutally rested. I have been diagnosed with severe apnea as well, however, the whole thing is to make certain your airway stays open so that you can breathe without any problem or snoring.

    I have severe sleep apnea, will Silent Night work for me?
