Find a Sleep Center
What is a sleep center? A sleep center is a facility used in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. There are many sleep disorders that are evaluated in sleep centers, such as obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, periodic leg movements during sleep, narcolepsy, and other sleep disorders.
A sleep center usually maintains a diagnostic sleep laboratory where sleep studies and sleep apnea tests are conducted. Most sleep labs perform polysomnography and home sleep tests. A sleep center is directed by a medical director, usually a sleep physician. The sleep studies are performed by sleep technologists (RST and RPSGT).
Usually, the patient’s referring physician writes an order for a sleep study and/or a consultation with a sleep physician who reports back to the referring doctor and primary care physician.
