organization to link all people interested in

country. It is the first true Internet Sleep
Portal. The goal of the association is to be a
complete source for sleep information and
communication for all people interested in sleep
and sleep disorders.

American Sleep Association is the national
organization of the International Sleep Medicine
Association.
The
American Sleep Association and the International
Sleep Medicine Association aim to improve sleep
health around the world by educating health care
providers and increasing public awareness about
sleep health and sleeping disorders.
Why
is Sleep So Important ?
Over
40 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders.
Millions more are effected worldwide. Excessive
daytime sleepiness is responsible for thousands
of deaths each year. Most people do not know that
they suffer from a sleep disorder. Most often,
they are also not recognized by the primary
physician. Yet, most sleep disorders are easily
treated once recognized.
How
the ASA Can Make a Difference

American Sleep Association is responsible for
improving sleep health worldwide by:

Improving public awareness by educating the
general public on the prevalence, recognition and
dangers of sleep disorders.

Supporting sleep research by creating a
user-friendly environment for scientists around
the world to collaborate on projects and ideas.
